Jaden received his mission call on Friday afternoon, but with him working and Nate working we weren't able to open it till Saturday at 8 pm. We sent out word to family and friends that we would be opening it, and everyone came. Even Chris and Kim were on Skype with us so that they could be there. It was standing room only in our house, and it was such a neat experience to see all of the love and support for Jaden.
When he started reading the mission call, Jaden was shaking, and really nervous. We had passed a piece of paper around for everyone to write their predictions, and as he read the mission name he only said Philippines and a giant yell went up from everyone (several people had picked the Philippines). Jaden paused because he couldn't say the rest of the mission name, and he wanted to go back and read the Philippines because he thought maybe it was Philadelphia and he had read it wrong. =) Christine came over to help Jaden say the mission name. I was in shock with the departure date. Sept. 11th, only 6 weeks to get all ready!! Then I started crying because it was really happening. I was happy and sad and nervous all at the same time. Then we had to go find it on a map. Cauayan City, where the mission home is, isn't on this map, but we got the general location.
The St.Gelais cousins got a chance to say a last goodbye. Andre and Terri were actually leaving the next day to drive to Minnesota, so it was a goodbye for everyone.
