Dallin turned 8 in July, but we had to postpone his baptism for a couple of reasons. The baptism date for July was the 25th, and we had planned to be in Safford that weekend. The kids were really looking forward to the trip as an end of summer fun weekend right before school started. Dallin agreed that he could wait to be baptized. He didn't want to miss the trip.
So we told our ward that we would do it in Aug., but as it turns out, Daniel and Michelle's ward baptism day was the same day at the same time. Go figure!! So we bowed out, letting Emma have that day in August, and we moved ours to September. Dallin is so easy going, that it wasn't a big deal to him. What a champ! He was only concerned that he couldn't start cub scouts. When I told him that wasn't a problem, he was so relieved.
The actual baptism day was so hectic! Dallin had a soccer game that morning, and he scored a goal. Whenever he scores, he gets a chocolate shake, so we had to hurry and pick that up on our way home after the game. We got home and had about 40 minutes to get ready before we had to be at the church. Luckily everyone helped out, got themselves ready, and we got to the church. Not that they would start without us, Dallin was the only child from our ward being baptized. Dallin got to pick the whole program since he was the only one. He asked Jason to speak about baptism, grandpa to speak about the Holy Ghost. Matt and Grandad were the witnesses, grandma played the piano, and Rachelle lead the music. Lola said the opening prayer, and Brendan said the closing prayer. It was so cute that he wanted Brendan to do a prayer. I almost discouraged Dallin from that, but I wanted it to be his day, so I went with it. It is cute that he looks up to his older cousin.
After the baptism we all headed back to our house for some food. I had spent the week cleaning the house, so worried that it would be a mess. Everything turned out great. I really enjoyed it. Thank you everyone that helped out with food, or with the program. Dallin had a great day!
