Jaden was excited to play on the school soccer team his senior year. Most of the team was seniors, and they had a lot of experience and he thought they would do well.
These pictures are from a couple of regular season games. They had a good season, only losing one game to Campo Verde High School.
Because of their good season, they were in 8th place going into the play-offs. For their first play-off game they played Cactus Shadow High School. They won 5-4. These pictures show the boys lined up while the announcer read off the starting line up. Then when their name was called, the boy would run out and stand with the team. Jaden is #10.
This is where he was just called, and is standing out on the field.
Before the game, they got in a big circle and started chanting and getting pumped up.
About 10 minutes into the game, Jaden was stopping a play near the goal, and fell and dislocated his thumb. He stayed in and played for a few more minutes, but the pain was getting to him, so he asked to come out. While he was sitting on the bench, all the other players were surrounding him and looking at his hand. Nate and I were in the stands and didn't know what was going on, but Nate ran down to the field to check it out. While waiting for the trainer to come and wrap it up, Jaden popped his thumb back into place. Yuck! (this picture is of Jaden getting his hand wrapped up) The coach didn't put Jaden back in for the rest of the game, and Jaden was pretty mad.
Luckily they won, and their next game was against South Mountain, the #1 team. The game was on a Saturday. Nate was working, and I had to take Dallin to his soccer game, so I couldn't go see Jaden play. Chris and Kim were in town for a visit, so Mom, Dad, and Chris drove to South Mountain High School to watch the game. I had told them that we would probably lose, since it was the #1 team, but they wanted to get to see Jaden play. Can you believe it, we won that game 5-1!! Jaden was so pumped up. He went out that night with the team to celebrate.
Beating South Mountain put Queen Creek into the semi-finals. They played Salpointe Catholic. This team was really good, and killed us, and went on to win the whole thing. Jaden was bummed, but he had a really great season. I'm glad they did so good his last year of playing.
