Landon's awesome poem

Every year the whole district has a poetry contest.  All of the grades 1-8 have a specific poem format that they use (it is different for each grade) and all the kids write a poem.  Each teacher then picks one poem from her class to be entered into the district wide poetry contest.  Landon's teacher picked Landon's poem from out of all of the class to be entered.  This is his poem:

Knott's Berry Farm

Looks like colorful roller coasters.
Feels like wind blowing through your hair.
Tastes like bugs in your mouth.
Smells like yummy food all around you.
Sounds like screaming and laughing.

And he won 2nd place out of the whole district!  All of the first grade classes at all of the schools, and he got 2nd place!!  For being a winner, the district put on a dinner and award ceremony for the winners and their parents.

This is Landon at the award ceremony with his teacher, Miss Slota.

After the award ceremony, Nate and I took Landon out for dessert at Sweetie Peez.  It is a self serve frozen yogurt place.  Landon got to pick as many toppings as he wanted, since it was his special night.

He also got a certificate and a book of all the winning poems, including his.  It is neat keepsake.
