Civil Rights Day hiking

For the Civil Rights Holiday, Nate and the kids had the day off, so we decided to go on a hike. The San Tan Mountains are just a few miles from our house, and the weather was perfect. We loaded up both dogs and lots of water and headed out. We decided on a nice 1 mile trail, not realizing that it was 1 mile in, and 1 mile back. So it was a little longer than the kids wanted to do, and by the end Lauren and Landon were both a little whiny. "We're tired, we're hungry, etc". They walked the whole way on their own, and when it was all done, they had a great time and are already asking to go back again.

That was a good idea! My poor kids did nothing that day. I was home sick as a dog. Your such a good mom.

That is so funny...we did the same thing on Civil Rights Day. Check out my blog for the pictures. :) I'm glad you guys got to do something. I hate it when the kids go back to school and the teacher asks everyone what they did for the break and your kids say "nothing" even if you packed their days full of activities!
